I had to move my blog...

I had to move my blog, mainly due to laziness on my account. The new location is web.mac.com/lsheldonclark/ . Hopefully, I will be able to update more since it is a lot less complicated and I don't even have to be connected to the internet to update it.

See you there?

Snow in Seoul

Snow in Seoul
Originally uploaded by sheltron
Although the temperature has been hovering around freezing for the last several weeks, it had yet to snow because Seoul is SO dry in the winter. But it started this morning and has been accumulating all day, we have a good 3-4 inches on the ground. At least, on the ground where there are no cars and no people :).

Okay, so I haven't updated in a while, but I'm going to try to do better starting this week. I'm planning on posting at least once a week whether there is anything interesting going on or not.

In other news... I met with some of the professors from the University of Oregon linguistics department this week. (There are three of them here right now, believe it or not.) And they suggested that I try to sit in on some Hanyang linguistics classes (a number of them are taught entirely in English). So it looks like I might have a little more intellectual focus next semester.

Anyway, that's it for now. Have a great weekend everybody!

The Cake

The Cake

Starbucks Reciept, in Korean!

Just thought this one would be cool for other people to see. While I'm making this post I should tell you how you can see the other pictures I've taken. They are all at flickr.com (thats right, no 'e' between the k and the r). You can either search for 'sheltron' in their people search, or you can follow this link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/lsheldonclark/

Korean Grass Festival?

Okay, so I'm still not entirely sure why we went, but I have been told it was some kind of festival and it involved an ornamental grass of some kind. There are more pictures over at flickr.com so be sure to check those out too.

There were a ton of people there, but they were mostly quiet and kept to themselves so it never seemed too crowded. Plus, the park was really cool too.

Ahh! Fake Korean Terrorist Attack!

There was a simulation of some kind of attack or accident today in the new engineering building just accross the street from my building. I was able to take some pictures of the event from the window in my office. There were a ton of pyrotechnics and loud voices over a loudspeaker. I'm pretty sure one was an annoucer narrating events.

The blue tents on the left of the picture are sheltering some observing officials from whatever it is officials need to be sheltered from. I'll post more information if I get it.

Lover's Walk

These are pictures of the wall of a beautiful Palace right accross the street from CityHall. This is (I think) the Lover's Walk. Supposedly, a couple that walks next to these trees will stay together. I just thought it made for a very cool photo.

Finally got my Cell Phone!

I went with Yuni to Techno-Mart today and Finally got my cell phone (see photos). I didn't take my camera with me but Techno-Mart is unbelievable. It is a building the size of Target, but with 6+ floors all devoted to technology goods. There is a whole floor devoted to cell phones!

Day 25

Okay, I've been meaning to post pictures and stuff for a while, but I just haven't done it. So I'll post retroactively. I actually did write something down about most of the days I've been here. I just didn't post it. Click on the pictures if you want a bigger size, you should be able to download them in their original sizes from Flickr.com. Enjoy!

This is my bedroom. My room is in a dormitory but it is more like a studio apartment than a dorm room. In fact, I call it "my apartment" so think of it that way.

This is my kitchen. It's not much, and there's no oven or microwave, but I eat out most of the time anyway. :)
